Hello everyone!
Welcome back to another casual update! After being very sad last weekend, I have recovered and had a very successful week of class. I submitted a paper, had a presentation, and had class from 8:15 to 6 Monday to Thursday. Today is Friday and I’m on a flight to Prague!
Life was very “normal” this past week, which was just what I needed. Last weekend, I went to the zoo after church on Sunday with Megan, a friend I made through the Bible study, and we had a great time! I also had coffee with Savannah and that was also very special time just connecting with her about where we both are in life, which is my favorite type of coffee date.
Classes were mostly fun and interesting (taking a communications and an economics class), and I made all different types of pasta throughout the week (cream pasta, pesto pasta, calabrese pasta). Yesterday was Halloween, but I “celebrated” in a special way: Bible study! Melanie baked sugar cookies for us and Frank made us tea. Toward the end, they brought out a box of props for us to act out scenes from the Bible. She even gave us a ride home after. It was incredibly sweet.
After the long week of class, we’ll spend the next week visiting 5 different companies. The most special part of next week is that we’ll take the bus all the way to Geneva and spend the night there before visiting the UN, which I’m super excited about. I was in Model UN in highschool, even though I wasn’t very good at it! I also will be visiting Munich on Wednesday since I won’t have Investment Banking like everyone else, and meet up with Khanh, a childhood friend I have not seen for years!
This past week I’ve also been watching a Vietnamese reality TV show with celebrities and their kids, and that’s been the way I pass the time and decompress. Of course, the week also involved little things like a cycling class (super good class I sneaked in during lunch time), everyone in my class learning how good the chocolate croissant is in the cafeteria (like 5 of us getting it for breakfast), and watching Prince Caspian on Prime.
This week also marks the beginning of my last month in Europe. I’m blown away by the fact that I have a whole month left to explore and soak up life in this beautiful (and very expensive) country. This past week I bought fresh milk from a farm right next to my classroom! I love being able to benefit from the farm life without actually running the farm.
This past year also has taught me how important it is to rest. I would not have been able to dive into my masters program the way I did without spending the whole summer home last year, and now, after taking a long break from responsibilities in this season of life, I feel more and more ready to go back to work and school in the spring. This time, I come back a better money spender, an avid indoor cycler, and with a whole new bag of experiences I’m carrying home! From backpacking in Interlaken, to flying to Prague to see family, to connecting with a childhood friend in Germany, to learning German in the Black Forest, to knowing the best coffee spot in St. Gallen, I feel like a completely different person and have grown so much in the process.
Man, I am excited to sign up for a part time job, ministry, and 15 hours of classes. It is actually quite thrilling!
(They just gave us Swiss chocolate on the plane. I’m happily pausing).
I’ll try to be very much off my phone in the next few days, so that’s why I’m posting the blog on Friday night. I just want to get to know Czech Republic and just to exist for a little bit.
I slowly feel a BIG transition in life coming up, and even if I don’t know what it means yet, I know the most important thing is to stay close to Jesus and abide in Him.
I hope everybody have a great weekend and fill your life up with good food, good people, and the best thing: the Lord Jesus!
Love,
Tram
